Best starting business in Big Ambitions 1.0

Short version: 1.0 changed the money you start with, not the shops you can open. Lending was explicitly reworked on 28 August 2026, so any opening plan written before that date is built on borrowing terms that no longer apply. The shop list itself was not said to change — only new Hamptons locations were added.

Directly affected

This route changed the most

"Loans now require more income to qualify and carry higher interest rates and minimum daily payments. But you can now get a larger maximum loan from Vantander Bank and can make partial payments on your loans!"

Re-check before you commit:

  • Whether you still qualify at all — the income requirement went up
  • The daily payment, which is now higher and starts immediately
  • The new ceiling, which went up and may change what is reachable
  • Partial repayment, which is new and changes how you exit the debt

So what should you actually open?

Open something whose daily revenue starts on day one and whose staffing can stay at zero or one while you clear the first repayments — a small retail unit rather than a staffed hospitality or service premises. The minimum daily payment now begins immediately and went up, so a business with a ramp-up period is being financed out of your own pocket during the ramp.

Evidence grade: Derived from the 1.0 lending change (PATCH-10). Not from per-business profit figures — we do not have those.

Why there is no ranked list on this page

A “best business” ranking needs verified layout cost, profit and staffing numbers. Version 1.0 shipped on 28 August 2026 and the developer published which systems moved without publishing the new values. Ranking on pre-1.0 numbers would look authoritative and be wrong.

So this page gives you the decision dimensions the game exposes, and how to read them yourself in-game. When the values are verifiable, the ranking appears here and is dated.

The dimensions the game gives you

Read them in this order — the first two are hard constraints, the rest are trade-offs.

Field names taken from the public field structure of existing community data tables (claim BG-TABLES), cross-checked against the in-game panels named in the 1.0 notes. Values are deliberately absent. Last verified 29 Aug 2026.

How to check the numbers yourself, in-game

  1. Open BizMan before you buy anything

It lists every business you own with the filters the 1.0 notes mention (health-insurance requirements, unassigned employees, in-training employees, empty businesses). Use it to see what an existing shop actually costs you per day.

  2. Read MarketInsider for the district, not the city

Demand is reported per neighbourhood. The 1.0 notes confirm a seventh district exists, so any demand read from a pre-1.0 guide is missing one district.

  3. Check Econoview for your tax position

1.0 added a tax panel to Econoview with a next-year estimate. That estimate is the number your opening plan has to survive — it did not exist in older guides.

  4. Model the loan repayment before you sign

Minimum daily payments went up. Take the figure the bank shows you and subtract it from your projected daily profit before deciding the shop is viable.

Every panel named above appears in the 1.0 announcement (PATCH-10). The specific values they display are yours to read — we do not have them.

Players working through 1.0 on video

Two community videos recorded against 1.0 specifically, rather than an Early Access build. Useful for seeing the panels in motion. We have not verified the numbers they quote — treat them the same way you would any other unofficial source.

Questions people actually ask

Is the loan still the fastest opening?
Unknown, and anyone telling you otherwise right now is guessing. 1.0 raised the income requirement, the interest rate and the minimum daily payment, while also raising the maximum you can borrow. Those pull in opposite directions and no figures were published.
Did any existing business type get nerfed in 1.0?
The announcement does not say. It describes new Hamptons locations and new luxury stores; it makes no claim about existing types. Absence from patch notes is not proof that nothing changed.
Should I start in the Hamptons since it is new?
It is described as “mostly a residential area” with a small retail strip, and the mansions cost “a few million dollars”. That is not an opening-move district on the face of it, but the actual prices are unverified by us.
Where do the old guides go wrong now?
Specifically at the borrowing step. Everything downstream of “take out a loan of X” was computed under terms that 1.0 replaced.
