Big Ambitions FPS drops and stuttering

Open. Under investigation by the developer, not fixed.

Status as of 4 September 2026, from the Build 3672/3674 patch notes published 1 September 2026 (claim PATCH-3672/3674). No build number and no date have been given for the fix.

Hovgaard Games has acknowledged the problem in writing and has not shipped a fix for it. That is the whole of what is officially known, and this page exists mainly to say it precisely, because the situation is easy to misread in two directions. The first patch after the 1.0 launch weekend was large and visible, so it is tempting to assume performance was part of it — it was not. In the other direction, “still being investigated” is not the same as “ignored”: the developer volunteered the note themselves, unprompted, in the middle of a changelog about other things. We are not going to publish tuning tricks we cannot source, so what follows is the quote, the actual contents of the patch, and the reporting channel the developer asked people to use.

What the developer actually said

We're currently looking into why some players are having problems with FPS drops and choppy gameplay and that will be coming in another patch very soon!

Hovgaard Games, “Big Ambitions 1.0 Build 3672/3674 — Patch Notes”, 1 September 2026. Retrieved from the Steam news record for app 1331550 on 4 September 2026 (claim PATCH-3672/3674). The sentence appears as a note above the changelog, not as a changelog entry.

Three things are worth reading off it literally. It says some players, not all — the developer is not claiming to have reproduced it everywhere. It says “looking into why”, which is the diagnosis stage, not a fix awaiting release. And “very soon” is the only timing language given; no build number and no date accompany it.

What Build 3672 and the 3674 hotfix contained

Build 3672 is a long list — dozens of entries covering vehicles, tutorials, colliders, UI text, translations and props. We are not reproducing it here, because the interface we read it through strips the list markup out and returns the entries run together with no separator, which means any “full changelog” we typed up would be our reconstruction rather than the developer’s text. The announcement itself is the authority; these are six entries from it, as examples of the kind of thing it contains:

  • Added search to subway to easily find your destination
  • Added "Assign Uniforms" quick button to employee uniform locker
  • Fixed issue making it difficult to enter vehicle
  • Fixed can't load save game from underground parking
  • Fixed walking SFX weren't synced to walking animation
  • The banks now tell you how much you can loan if you try to request too much

The 3674 hotfix followed in the same announcement, for problems the 3672 patch itself introduced:

  • Fixed employees were trying to quit but were bugging out, which was causing training, imports and deliveries to fail
  • Scooters couldn’t turn after being used twice
  • Players past the second business objective no longer get the “help files” tutorial message

Source claim PATCH-3672/3674, read 4 September 2026. We read the announcement in full and found no entry addressing frame rate, stuttering or performance — but that is our reading, and the developer’s own note above is the part you can check without taking our word for anything. If you have seen a report that this patch fixed lag spikes, weigh it against that note.

The one thing the developer asked players to do

In an earlier patch note the studio asked players to use the in-game reporter: “please hit F2 and submit a bug report so we can fix it!” The same build also added automatic crash reporting, but only for players who have opted in to anonymous gameplay tracking. That request was made about a different bug, and the developer has not said what it wants for this one — we are pointing at it because it is the only reporting channel the studio has ever named, not because anyone has said it is the right channel for FPS reports.

Quote from “EA 0.11 Build 3542 — Patch Notes”, 7 July 2026, same news record. It predates 1.0, so treat it as the studio’s standing preference rather than an instruction issued about this specific problem.

Published system requirements

The only performance-relevant numbers the game itself publishes. They are a floor, not a diagnosis — meeting the recommended column does not mean you are unaffected, since the developer has not said what the affected machines have in common.

What this page deliberately does not tell you

There is no settings tweak, launch option or config edit listed here. We have not found one that the developer published or that we could verify, and the honest reason to leave the section out is that an unverified tweak is worse than nothing: it costs you an afternoon and it muddies your own evidence about whether the next patch helped. When the performance patch ships we will put its build number and changelog on this page and date it.

One piece of context that is verifiable and probably relevant to the timing: the studio reported a record of over 12,000 concurrent players on the 1.0 release weekend. A problem affecting a small share of machines becomes highly visible at that population, which is consistent with reports appearing in volume immediately after launch.

Related questions

Did Build 3672 fix the FPS drops?
No. None of the nine changelog entries is a performance fix, and the developer’s note in the same announcement says the problem is still being investigated.
When is the performance patch coming?
No date and no build number have been published. The only timing language given is “very soon”, in the 1 September 2026 patch notes.
Does everyone get FPS drops in Big Ambitions?
The developer says “some players”. Nothing official has been published about what those machines have in common, so we cannot tell you whether yours is affected.
What should I do if it happens to me?
Press F2 in game and submit a bug report — that is the channel the studio asked for. Opting in to anonymous gameplay tracking also enables automatic crash reporting.
Is my PC too slow?
Compare against the published minimum and recommended specifications in the table above. Meeting them does not rule the problem out, because its cause has not been stated.
